Join Molly Drummond for this zine making workshop inspired by bell hook’s ‘Talking Back’. bell hooks is a famous black female writer and teacher who speaks widely on issues of race, class and gender.

Molly Drummond is a research student at Keele writing about community, safety, and utopias. She writes about, collects, and makes zines, and also runs zine workshops occasionally at Keele and in the community. She is an associate artist at B-arts and a member of Women of Keele Educate, a project aiming to engage with and support all cis and trans women and non-binary people. Their work to foster a wider engagement and empowerment of cis and trans women, and non-binary people to take part in decision making across the Keele campus.

‌In this workshop we will be making concertina paper doll zines, exploring words from ‘Talking Back’ and filling them with our own images and word on the speech, body and protest.

An instruction sheet and templates for a craft packs will be available for Keele students and staff, or you can use your materials at home.

You will need:

· Two sheet of A4 paper.
· Images for a background (The shared images in your craft pack, or other magazine or printed out images of your choice. You may want to consider the themes speech/body/protest.)
· A pair of scissors
· A pencil
· PVA glue or a Pritt stick
· A pen

Optional

· Felt tip pens or coloured pencils.
