Welcome Events Schedule

Keele Welcome begins on Wednesday 19th September for international students and Saturday 22nd September for home students, and runs until Sunday 30th September. During Keele Welcome, look out for staff and students in coloured t-shirts. They will be around to answer your questions and offer advice to help you make the most of your first few days at Keele. Student Services staff will be based at the Help and Information stands in the Chancellor's Building.

As a postgraduate student you are able to attend our full range of welcome events, however we also have the following events specifically for postgraduate students.

International Postgraduate Student Language Assessment (i, PG)

10am - 12pm, Dorothy Hodgkin Building

This session is for international postgraduate students only. It is compulsory for all Masters level students, and PhD students are invited to attend.

Keele Postgraduate Association Clubhouse

7pm - late

The KPA Clubhouse will is your go-to place as a mature student. It will be open from 7.00 pm till late for drinks and to meet other new and current postgraduate students.

KPA Games Night

From 7pm

Come down to the KPA Clubhouse and break the ice with your fellow postgraduates over a range of board games.  Learn more of the postgraduate community and what it has to offer.  Challenge yourself and others and make friends along the way!

Postgraduate Welcome BBQ

12pm – 3pm (Clubhouse open till late)

Come join us in our Beer Garden at the KPA Clubhouse for a BBQ and enjoy a cocktail with some music.

Mature Student Welcome Session

11pm – 12pm, Keele Hall Ballroom

If you're a new postgraduate student, come along to this session to meet other new postgraduate students and mature students. Come along for a quick talk, coffee and biscuits, and useful tips and information.

 

Postgraduate Walk in the Woods

From 2pm, meet outside the KPA Clubhouse

Explore the amazing Keele Woods with fellow postgraduates.  A great relaxed way to get to know the campus and your fellow postgrads better!  Meet outside the KPA Clubhouse.  Sensible footwear suggested.

Mega Pub Quiz at the KPA

From 8.30pm, KPA

The Clubhouse is hosting the legendary weekly KPA Quiz. It’s £1 to enter and the prize fund often exceeds £50! As well as a cash prize for first, second, and third place, the winning team will be treated to a free lunch or dinner at the KPA Clubhouse.  Also, look out for raffle tickets at the bar!

Postgraduate Coffee Morning

11am to 12pm, Claus Moser Foyer

Each week postgraduate students meet for a coffee, biscuits and a chat in the Claus Moser building. This is a great opportunity to meet and socialise with other students!

Postgraduates’ Open Afternoon

12pm – 3pm, Careers and Employability

Careers and Employability can help postgraduates to develop their employability skills and plan a career, whether academic or professional.  Drop in for a casual chat over free lunch, find out what we offer and how we can help you with your future.  Come and join us! No need to book. Free lunch provided!

Cheese and Wine Tasting Evening/Meet the KPA Committee

From 7pm, KPA Clubhouse

A selection of wine, cheese and biscuits will be served by the newly elected KPA Committee.  Get yourself a tasting card from the bar and meet your representatives!

Postgraduate Q&Q Drop-In Session

10am – 1pm, Location TBC

Still got questions specific to your postgrad study here at Keele?  Pop along to this postgraduate drop-in session where representatives from the KPA and university services will be able to answer any questions you may have before you get fully stuck into your course!

Postgraduate Research Showcase

1pm – 3pm, Location TBC

The Keele Postgraduate Research Showcase offers a regular opportunity for PGR students to present and receive feedback on their work in an informal, supportive and stress-free environment.  This will give new students a chance to see the kind of research being carried out at Keele and get to know the research students carrying out the work and well as hearing their tips and making new friends.

Postgraduate Sports Session

12pm - 2pm, Sports Centre, Muggers Pitch

Interested in engaging with sport but don’t want to be on a team? Come along to the first of a string of postgraduate sports sessions put on by the KPA throughout the year! A great opportunity to engage with sport at Keele!

KPA Welcome Kids Party

2pm - 4pm, KPA Clubhouse

Come and join us at the Clubhouse for a fun afternoon of crafts, party games, baking and a free buffet and drinks for the children

Postgraduate Film Night

From 8pm, KPA Clubhouse

Wind up Welcome Week in a relaxed atmosphere with fellow postgraduates as watch films through Sunday night!
