Environment and Sustainability

Sustainability is a priority at Keele University.  By taking action now, the University aims to become more energy self-sufficient whilst also developing world-leading research in environmental sustainability.

Sustainability Hub

The Key Fund supported the restoration of Home Farm, now known as the Sustainability Hub.

The Hub houses a variety of Keele’s sustainability activity, including the MSc Environmental Sustainability and Green Technology programme which is run in conjunction with local industry partners.

It provides consultancy work to industry partners, holds Continuous Professional Development activities and welcomes hundreds of local community members every year to find out about new developments in Sustainability research.

Memorial Garden

The University has recently established a Memorial Garden in an idyllic area of the campus.  Here, family and friends are able to have a tree planted in honour of a loved one who enjoyed their time at Keele, whether as a student, member of staff, resident or part of the local community.

Packages cost £200 and include a choice of tree (apple, pear, damson, medlar or cherry), planting, maintenance and a personalised plaque with a message of the family’s choosing.

For further information, please visit our dedicated Memorial Garden page.

Keele on Wheels

The Key Fund has recently provided funding towards the establishment of a bicycle hire scheme known as Keele on Wheels.

Managed by Keele Student Union, students are able to borrow bicycles for between one and seven days for free.
