I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to study in Uppsala, Sweden for a semester in my second year of studying Education and English. Leaning the language and understanding cultural differences have not only enhanced my employability prospects but have developed me as a person. I can easily go into an unknown environment and find myself talking with people who I would not normally. As an aspiring English Language teacher, this has improved my people skills and how to deal with situations that are unfamiliar. I was able to go into a Swedish International School in one of my modules and was lucky enough to teach English to the children. I can take new skills and techniques into my teaching that other candidates may not know about if they have not been abroad. I have definitely caught the ‘travel bug’ from my time in Sweden, and am excited to see where else I can teach in the world.
