A lot of media based degrees are entirely practical (e.g. focusing on filming) and although its not entirely about that, studying Media at Keele University surprised me about how much an academic understanding of these things can actually influence the way you think about things before you even do them.

The First Year module “Scriptwriting” was is favourite module to date. I did not expect that in first year I would be thrown right into writing a script, and its exactly what I had in mind, exactly what I wanted to do when I came here. It was just such an entertaining and informative module. The tutor used so many good examples of short films that really inspired me every single week. He wasn’t just talking at me, he was showing me examples and explaining how those examples worked.

I would recommend Media at Keele to anyone because the course covers all bases of future employment, so rather than giving you one specific ability, they keep your opportunities varied and I could go into a lot of different specialist subjects, knowing that I have a basic understanding of it, even if I don’t have a very advanced knowledge of one specific thing, I have a competent knowledge of everything.

After graduation I want to do a Post Graduate Masters degree in Media and Management.
