Hazel Chok, Accounting and Finance
Why did you choose to study at Keele Business School (KBS)?
I have always wanted to pursue a career in accountancy and I chose KBS because it was recommended by an agency when I was applying for universities. Aside from that, I also read good reviews of the KBS on online forums and the university's prospectuses. I wanted to attend a university that has good records of their expertise in accountancy and business, hence, my reason to choose KBS.
What do you enjoy the most about studying at KBS?
The way that KBS structures its courses appeals to me as the tutorials are very useful in understanding the lectures. The lecturers in KBS are also very knowledgeable and passionate in their field. The lectures are always delivered at high quality because they are passionate about teaching their subject.
What advice would you give to someone considering studying at KBS?
Always seek guidance from the tutors when you have to complete an assignment. Face-to-face communication with the tutors is the key to understanding their expectations towards the given assignments and it is my tried-and-tested method of not going off tangent with the assignment questions.
Would you recommend KBS/Keele University to friends considering university?
Yes I would. Unlike universities from busy cities, Keele University is an ideal place to pursue a university degree as it has the quiet, friendly and peaceful environment that would not distract you from your studies. The fact that it is a campus-based university makes the community even more tight knitted and it gives you the opportunity to meet new people easily.
What are your plans for the future?
I plan to pursue a professional qualification in accountancy and hopefully a career in that field.
How do you anticipate that your degree will benefit you in your chosen career path?
My chosen degree provides me with exam exemptions in the prestigious ACCA qualification, I am able to progress my professional accountancy papers much quicker and therefore, speeding up my process to be qualified.
What do you like about the supporting services at KBS/Keele University (personal tutor), careers and employability etc)?
I find the personal tutor support system very helpful as I can have a sense of support from my personal tutor whenever I face problems. The staff from KMS are also very friendly and approachable, I did not need to hesitate when seeking support from my module tutors because I know I will always be welcomed and they are always happy to help me out.
