Clare Coleman Memorial Prize

Amount: £40

This prize commemorate Clare Coleman, who read English and Philosophy at Keele from 1984 to 1987, and who died after a long illness just before taking her final examinations.

The prize is awarded to a final year student reading English or Philosophy for special achievement in their studies.

Environmental Studies Best Student Prize

This prize is awarded to an Environmental Studies third year undergraduate student(s) for outstanding achievement in their Environmental Studies programme.

John D. Lees Memorial Award

Award type: Cheque

Amount: to be announced annually

This bursary was established to commemorate Dr John David Lees, Reader in American Politics at Keele, who died in February 1986.

Dr Lees was a member of the Department of American Studies and Politics from 1964, and a founder member of the David Bruce Centre for American Studies in 1969. His American Studies and Political Science colleagues world-wide, his students and former students, friends and family, have established the Fund as a permanent memorial to his devotion to his profession, to the University of Keele and to the welfare of his students.

The John D. Lees Memorial Award supports visits to research archives in the United States and Canada. Applicants must be full-time or part-time postgraduate students at the University of Keele specialising in North American Politics. One award of up to £1000 will be made annually from the interest on the John D. Lees Memorial Fund and the David Bruce Centre Endowment Fund. Details of application procedures are specified on the David Bruce Centre website.

Martin Harrison Politics Dissertation Prize

Amount: £100

This prize was established in honour of Professor Martin Harrison, who was head of the Politics Department from 1966 to 1993 and member of the Politics Department from over thirty years, in recognition of his devoted service to both the Politics Department and to the wider Keele community. 

The prize is awarded annually to the student studying Politics who produces an outstanding dissertation. 

This prize will be listed on the HEAR, and will be announced at graduation.

 

Professor G A J Rogers Student Prize

Award type: Cheque

Amount: £100

This prize is awarded to a Philosophy third year undergraduate student for achievement in their Philosophy studies.

This prize will be listed on both the student transcript and the HEAR, and will be announced at graduation.

 

Professor Rosemary O'Kane Student Prize

Award type: Cheque

Amount: £100

This prize is awarded to a Politics third year undergraduate student for outstanding achievement in their Politics programme.

This prize will be listed on the HEAR, and will be announced at graduation.

 

Sheila Carson Memorial Prize

Award type: Book token

Amount: £50

This prize was established in 1971 in memory of Mrs Sheila Carson, graduate of Keele, and, at the time of her death, lecturer in the Department of Philosophy and Warden of Horwood Hall.

The prize is awarded from time to time to a student reading Principal Philosophy and who is at the end of their second Principal year.

This prize will be listed on the HEAR, and will be announced at graduation.

 

SPIRE Postgraduate Dissertation Prize

Amount: £100

This prize is awarded to the Postgraduate student who has submitted an outstanding dissertation.

This prize will be listed on the student transcript, and will be announced at graduation.

 

The Owen Powell Student Prize

Award type: Cheque

Amount: £100

This prize is awarded to an International Relations third year undergraduate student for outstanding achievement in their International Relations programme.

This prize will be listed on the HEAR, and will be announced at graduation.

 

The Martin Dent Memorial Award

Award type: Cheque

Amount: £100

This prize is awarded annually to a third year undergraduate student of SPIRE who produces an outstanding and exceptional dissertation on either of the topics of international human rights, global justice and peace studies.

This prize will be listed on the HEAR, and will be announced at graduation.
