Dr Abi Pearson, LLM in Law and Society graduate and Lecturer at Keele Law School

"I have had both the privilege of teaching on and graduating from this course. It’s flexibility and breadth enabled me to explore ideas and perspectives that were fundamental in me developing the necessary skill and confidence to be able to critique law and legal institutions, which enabled me to go on to Doctoral study. During my LLM dissertation, I created my original concept of ‘Assurance of Rightful Access’, as an alternative to ‘reasonable adjustment and undue burden’ in the context of disability rights law. I extended the concept to the field of legal education in my doctoral thesis. Working as a member of the teaching team, in my capacity as lecturer at Keele, has given me the opportunity to inspire others to come up with their own ideas and to add these to existing debates. It really is a fantastic course that can take you in many directions, some you may never even have thought of yet!”
