What did you do after graduation and how did you get this job?
After graduation I went straight into my PhD. I got this by applying through the NERC Envision website.
What does your job involve?
My job involves research which consists of fieldwork, subsequent laboratory analysis of the samples collected and interpretation of the results. My research is focused on assessing the impacts of aquaculture on freshwater lakes, in the Philippines, using palaeolimnology.
What did you learn on the MSc Geoscience Research which helped you get the job, or helps with your role now?
Completing the MSc Geoscience Research course was critical in helping me get my PhD as the research I completed for this course was very similar to my current research. In addition the course taught me vital skills (in writing, presentation, laboratory and fieldwork) and also allowed me to make contacts at the University of Nottingham. This gave me an advantage when applying for the PhD at this university.
