"Overall Keele is a great place to study and I would love to come back in the future."
Why did you choose to do a Postgraduate course, and why Keele?
After completing my undergraduate degree at Keele I knew that I wanted to continue to develop and progress as a healthcare professional. I knew that the postgraduate diploma in Clinical Pharmacy Practice at Keele was the perfect course for me to enrol on due to the expertise and support that I had had during my undergraduate study. I also loved the fact that you were able to choose your modules and therefore take control of your learning. Overall it was a pleasure to come back to study at Keele.
How has the course helped your career progression?
Since completing the diploma my clinical knowledge and skills have significantly improved. Specifically the appraisal aspect of the diploma enabled to me to interpret and analyse information effectively and the care plans enabled me to prioritise my clinical interventions when on the wards. Also, as I was able to choose my diploma modules I was able to investigate clinical areas of interest (one of which I now specialist in).
How has the expertise of teaching staff enhanced your learning?
I would like to give praise to all of the staff at Keele, their expertise and support throughout the course is fantastic. Throughout the course I was always given expert knowledge and if there were any queries or problems they were there to help.
What would you say have been the key benefits of the course at Keele?
The team of expertise along with the option of choosing your own modules are definitely two key benefits. The course teaches you a range of different skills sets from presentation skills to appraising evidence therefore I can now use these skills in my practice. Overall Keele is a great place to study and I would love to come back in the future.
What are you doing now?
Whilst completing the diploma I was the Education and Training pharmacist at my Trust which included leading on work experience placements and general recruitment. Since February 2021 I have progressed to the lead respiratory pharmacist at my Trust.
