Living Labs in Liberal Arts
A LivingLabs@Keele blog has been produced, designed to provide insights on the Living Labs approach to teaching and learning within the Liberal Arts degree programme.
The Liberal Arts programme at Keele has been designed to be both interdisciplinary and innovative in teaching and learning. This is reflected in core modules such as Understanding the World Through the Liberal Arts, which provides an introduction to perspectives and approaches from various disciplines in Humanities and Social Sciences. True to the liberal arts’ origins in classical antiquity, this also allows students to engage with theories and perspectives outside the classroom, in ‘living labs’. These ‘field trips’ to specific locations encourage exploration and application of knowledge and methodologies, through thinking and doing, in real living communities and physical and social landscapes.
This blog has been set up as part of a Teaching Innovation Project by Dr Andy Zieleniec, Programme Director for Liberal Arts and Ella Tennant, module lead for Understanding the World through the Liberal Arts and will be updated regularly to provide a document of the living labs trips as they take place.
