    Students need to apply for BA (Hons) Music Production with Foundation Year (UCAS code: J932) through UCAS at www.ucas.com. You will then be contacted to confirm your second subject by a member of our team.

    Summary

    Keele University was ranked Top 10 in England for overall student satisfaction (broad-based public universities, NSS 2021) and has over 70 years experience of teaching a foundation year to students. On the Keele Foundation Year, you’ll join our community from the outset and will have access to a range of support. If you do not meet the requirements for direct entry our Foundation Year can provide an alternative route into your degree.

     

    Overview

    The information below is relevant to the January intake only. If you would like to start this course in September, please visit our September pages for further details.

    The January start point is open to all students and will particularly suit those who are not ready to start in autumn or who would like longer to plan for their studies. It is also appealing to students who wish to complete their Foundation Year in a compressed time frame (January to September) but without loss of teaching weeks or acceleration of teaching and content delivery. The number of weeks of teaching and the number of credits taught is equivalent to the September start.

    COURSE CONTENT

    Our Foundation Year allows you to develop your critical thinking, academic reading, writing, and communication study skills along with subject-specific knowledge and skills which will be invaluable in your academic studies and beyond.

    Over the course of your foundation year you will study a variety of modules from across the Business, Humanities and Social Sciences programmes. This multidisciplinary approach will help to build your confidence in the academic study skills and subject specific knowledge to support your success in your degree. You will be studying alongside students from a range of degree programmes which will allow you to expand your academic interests and to build strong cross University networks.

    This Foundation Year is a two-semester programme that provides a tailored pre-degree programme of study to better prepare you for year one of your course. The course content has been developed in collaboration with degree teaching teams so that by the time you begin Year 1, you will be ready to excel at your studies.

    APPLYING FOR JANUARY FOUNDATION YEAR

    You can apply for our January Foundation Year via UCAS - the specific UCAS code is included in our 'How To Apply' tab on this page. Our January 2022 intake falls into the 2021/22 academic year. Therefore, to view this option in UCAS, please ensure you are looking at the 2021/22 course information. 

     

    PROGRESSION

    Upon meeting the progression criteria and successfully completing our Foundation Year, you will automatically progress into your Keele undergraduate degree with the confidence that you have the skills, and knowledge needed to successfully complete your course.

    Next Steps

    Indicative modules

    The January and September programmes are similar, and both cohorts will study a total of 120 credits. Modules will be determined by your degree choice, although modules delivered from January may differ from the modules delivered in September. Both cohorts will take a combination of subject-specific modules and study-skills modules which will provide you with a solid grounding in your subject area.

    The offer you receive will be determined by your subject and application.

    • 32 UCAS points or above from at least 1 A level/level 3 qualification or equivalent, or
    • Relevant work experience

      AND

    • GCSE English Language at grade 4 (C), or Level 2 Functional Skills, or
    • IELTS 5.5 (with 5.5 in all subtests)
