How to become a Practice Educator

Are you an existing Practice Educator or aspiring to become one? At the School of Allied Health Professions at Keele University we offer a three session Practice Educator Course that aims to develop and strengthen your skills.

New Practice Educators

If you are a new Practice Educator you will need to complete sessions one and two and follow up with the approval sessions (session three) after supervising a student.

Experience Practice Educators

If you are an experienced educator but not familiar with Keele assessment and processes, please contact the clinical admin team to discuss options.

Course Sessions

Session one 

Covers Learning and Teaching theories and their application in Placement Learning, Principles of assessment and their application in Placement Learning.

Session two

Is a summary of Session one, processes and procedures specific to Keele. Negotiated learning agreement, placement documentation, rules and regulations, disability and equal oportunities.

Session three

Approval. This is designed to give new educators the opportunity to discuss their experiences and share good practice with others in a similar position. 

Additional information

Attendees on this course will have had at least one student placed with them before attending and will be given a certificate for their CPD once the course has been completed.
