Following a successful professional career as Senior Forensic Social Worker (Child Protection) Denise took up the post of Teaching Fellow at Keele in 1997; Initially in the Law Department and latterly in Social Work.  Academic qualifications were gained mainly at Keele, including MA Child Care Law and Practice and a PhD awarded in 2006. Professional qualifications include: Certificate of Qualification in Social Work; Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work and Advanced Award in Social Work (Warwick Univ. 2000).   The PhD (an ethnographic investigation of decision-making in the child protection case conference) brought together personal and professional interests in applied philosophy and social work practice in a child protection context.   Denise has been a Senior Teaching Fellow since 2007.
Practice and teaching interests center around theoretical and empirical understandings of child abuse; qualitative research methodologies and applied philosophy.   Teaching (research dissertation and research project; child and family social work; law in social work) is therefore grounded on the principles that ensue from such underpinnings.
