About Social Work
At Keele, we provide high quality social work education, grounded in research, that is highly relevant for professional practice in the current world. We offer programmes at undergraduate, post-graduate and doctoral levels in a friendly environment. Research, knowledge creation and engagement with regional, national and international communities are central to our approach.
The quality of teaching and learning at Keele has been widely acknowledged externally. As one of the top 1.75% Universities globally according to The Times Higher, Keele was voted second in the UK by current students in the 2013 National Student Survey for overall student satisfaction: our teaching in social work is consistently viewed as high quality by our students. Our undergraduate and postgraduate courses in social work have around 30 students per year, enabling us provide high quality teaching and learning tailored to your needs. When you have completed the course at Keele our strong reputation with employers increases your likely of obtaining the social work career of choice; with recently, 95% of Keele graduates finding employment on completion of their studies.
Studying social work at Keele is vibrant and lively, with our strong network of agency partners that provide high quality practice experiences and our wide ranging international links, some overseas placements are possible as well as participation in a social work summer school in Finland.
In the 2014 national review of research in UK universities (REF), 74% of social work research was judged to be “world-leading” and “internationally excellent” and Keele was judged to be in top third of UK universities for research power in both social work and social policy. Also in 2014, following a successful relationship between social work and law colleagues, Social Work Law @Keele was established.
