Fencing

Everyone is welcome, from complete beginners to international fencers - feel free to attend any of our sessions!

Keele University club hopes to fulfil two main aims to all of its members: Firstly, to introduce or develop all individuals to the sport of fencing; we accomplish this with two training sessions a week, regular BUCS matches, in house tournaments and support/training from our experienced members. Secondly, to have fun with our fellow members; as well as training the club puts on a variety of socials, this can vary from a night out in the SU, to the screening of a film with pizza. Even in sessions games and challenges are set so members continue enjoying the sessions to the maximum. But it is not all fun and games, we encourage all new members to take part in local novice competitions, so that even if they are trying fencing for one year, all can feel the rush of excitement in a tournament scenario. The club also hosts a 24 hour “Fencathon” event for charity, where two individuals will be constantly fencing to support the chosen charity for that year. At Keele we do not only have a Fencing club which works and trains hard, but one which can appreciate the importance of enjoying the sport, through being active and making lifelong friends.
