Professor Bulent Gokay delivers a keynote lecture in China
The congress met on 5-6 May, coinciding with the 200th anniversary of Karl Marx's birth and 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up. The event attracted more than 1000 delegates over the course of the 2 days with in excess of 300 papers being presented across 30 sessions.
Prof Gokay was supported with full funding from the Institute of Marxism in Beijing to present the main paper in the Marxism and the Progress of Human Civilization section of the congress. His paper, “A Marxist analysis of the dynamics of the 2007-08 global economic crisis” also received special mention in the final address of the conference.
Speakers came from all over the world, including distinguished professors David Harvey, Samir Amin, Lin Yifu and Massimo D’Allema (former Prime Minister of Italy).
