Criminology

Professional Doctorate (DCrim)

The DCrim builds on the established and very successful UG and PGT provision in Criminology and Criminal Justice in the School to provide a specialist route for professionals and managers working in the field of criminal justice, or in related fields, who wish to embark on doctoral study located within their own professional discipline and practice.

MRes, PgCert, PgDip

The MRes Social Science Research Methods is designed to provide a thorough grounding in a range of qualitative and quantitative research skills and methodologies essential to the systematic research practice demanded in many professional environments, or to pave the way to further postgraduate study.

Education

PhD / MPhil

Research into education policy draws on a diversity of intellectual traditions, including critical social policy, poststructuralist theories of governance, feminism, theories of identity and cultural studies.

Professional Doctorate

The programme has been specifically designed for professionals - practitioners, policy-makers, leaders and managers, academics and teachers - at all levels of education, from early childhood through further and higher education, to lifelong learning.

Politics, International Relations and Philosophy

PhD / MPhil

The Research Centre for the Study of Politics, International Relations and Environment is an excellent base for pursuing doctoral research, with a long record of successful PhD students who have gone on to careers in research in academia and in other fields. We welcome postgraduate research students from around the world as well as the UK and provide supervision, support and facilities to enable them to achieve their full potential in a stimulating and lively environment.

PhD / MPhil

Keele offers three different postgraduate research degrees, in a small, friendly and research-intensive environment where everybody knows each other, and postgraduate students can talk to staff whenever they want. Facilities are good, the rural environment of Keele campus is highly conducive to concentration and focus, and the research of our staff is at the cutting-edge in some of the most fascinating areas of contemporary philosophy.

The MRes Social Science Research Methods is designed to provide a thorough grounding in a range of qualitative and quantitative research skills and methodologies essential to the systematic research practice demanded in many professional environments, or to pave the way to further postgraduate study.

PhD / MPhil

Research in Sociology at Keele is clustered around four main areas: family, community and domestic life; consumerism, everyday life and contemporary culture; globalisation, risk and anxiety; urban spaces and cultures. Other important areas of research are in social theory; migration; health; ageing; gender and sexualities.
