Critically-acclaimed book by Keele author available as audiobook

‘Our Boys: The Story of a Paratrooper’, a critically-acclaimed book written by Keele’s Professor Helen Parr, has now been released as an audiobook.

Our Boys brings to life the experiences of paratroopers in the Falklands War, and the aftermath of the conflict. It focuses on the life of one particular soldier, Helen’s uncle Private Dave Parr, who was killed during the conflict, but examines also the uncomfortable world of the Parachute Regiment, combat on the Falkland Islands, and the impacts of the war.

Since its launch, ‘Our Boys’ has received much acclaim and has won prestigious awards including the 2019 Duke Of Wellington Medal for Military History, Longman-History Today Book Prize 2019, and 2018 Templer Medal by the Society for Army Historical Research.

The book has also been reviewed in The Times, Evening Standard, and Financial Times, as well as being The Guardian’s ‘Book of the Day’, and the Times Higher Education’s (THE) ‘Book of the Week’.
Professor Parr is speaking about the book at the Chelsea History Festival on Saturday 12 October at 6pm.
