Georgie Fitzgibbon - BA (Hons) History and International Relations (2013)
When I first visited Keele in 2009, the university was to some extent a wildcard. The SPIRE presentation rapidly moved Keele up to my firm choice- and I wasn't disappointed. The content of the International Relations modules has been fascinating, and occasionally unnerving. Peace, Conflict and Security in the second year and Global Policing in the third year particularly stand out in this respect, challenging our assumptions about the world and the way we frame questions. The wide range of modules on offer and the flexible degree programme allows you to discover what interests you most, and the tutorials provide the opportunity for depth of study.
The staff (academic and administrative) have always been friendly and helpful, with an 'open door' policy, especially my personal tutor and dissertation supervisors who provided support and encouragement.
After graduating in 2013 with First Class Honours, I am embarking on a Masters in Medieval Studies at the University of Birmingham. My degree in International Relations will hopefully help me to approach my postgraduate studies with an interdisciplinary mindset and fresh questions.
