In June 2015, Jane Boylan and Alison Brammer will present a paper at the Social Work Education in Europe Conference, Bicocca University, Milan, Italy, entitled 'Experiential Learning and Social Work Law'.
Alison Brammer to Speak at University of Derby
BASW Special Interest Group have invited Alison to speak at University of Derby on the implications of the Care Act 2014 for safeguarding.
Legal Literacy Workshop
On 16 June Alison is leading a workshop on legal literacy at the PASAUK (link) and Birmingham City Council organised annual safeguarding conference.
World Elder Abuse Awareness Keynote
Alison Brammer is the keynote speaker at a conference organised by Shropshire partners in care as part of World Elder Abuse Awareness day, 15 June 2015, ‘The Care Act 2014 – a new direction for safeguarding?’
Silver Anniversary Event
The Right Honourable, Sir James Munby, President of the Family Division and Head of Family Justice, is the key note speaker at an event to celebrate the Silver Anniversary of Child Care Law and Practice at Keele. The course was established alongside the introduction of the Children Act 1989 and 2015 marks 25 years since the first cohort of students enrolled on the Course. The event will also mark the establishment of the MA in Safeguarding Adults: Law, Policy and Practice, which welcomes its fifth cohort later this year. Both courses continue to thrive and to attract students from a wide range of disciplines and professional backgrounds throughout the UK. The event takes place on Friday 1st may at Keele Hall, with lunch from 1pm. The evnt will be attended by Alumni, past and present staff, external examiners and invited guests from the profession. After a few presentation from Alumni the President will offers some reflections on the practice of safeguarding children and adults over the last 25 years.

Inaugural meeting Social Work Law Association

In April 2015, Jane Boylan and Alison Brammer presentated a paper at the 5th European Social Work Research Association Conference, Ljubljana, Slovenia, entitled 'Promoting Experiential Learning of Social Work Law'. The theme of the conference was re-visioning social work, individuals, collectives and communities.
