Keele Professor becomes President of the International Institute of Acoustics and Vibration

Professor Maria Heckl will start her two-year term as President of the International Institute of Acoustics and Vibration (IIAV) on 14 July 2020, having served for two years as President-Elect.

The purpose of the IIAV is to advance the science of acoustics and vibration by bringing together scientists and engineers from all countries. In order to provide a forum for sharing research results and ideas, the IIAV organises the annual International Congress on Acoustics and Vibration, which is a premier event, typically attended by over 800 delegates from dozens of different countries. The IIAV also publishes the quarterly International Journal of Acoustics and Vibration; this is a refereed journal and indexed in the usual publication databases.

The start of Maria's presidency is going to be a remote event. It should have taken place in Prague this July, during the 27th International Congress on Acoustics and Vibration, but unfortunately this congress had to be postponed by one year due to Covid-19.
