Dr Gabriella Legrenzi, Keele Management School, has been invited to present her research at one of the forthcoming, highly competitive workshops organised by the Fiscal Policy Division of the European Central Bank, in Frankfurt.

The workshop, attended by academics and policymakers from the European System of Central Banks, is aimed at understanding the conduct of fiscal policy within the European Monetary Union, with a particular focus on the implications of the financial crisis and the "Great Recession".

Dr Legrenzi's current research contributes to the existing debate on fiscal adjustments by introducing time and state-varying thresholds to model the reaction function of fiscal policy authorities to budgetary disequilibria during "good" and "bad" times, characterised by the phase of the economic cycle and/or the pressures arising from financial markets.
