KUBE Radio 24-hour charity broadcast 2010

Posted on 27 May 2010

Keele University’s award-winning student radio station, KUBE Radio, will be holding its third annual 24 Hour Charity Broadcast on June 1 this year.

The aim of this event is to raise as much money as possible for charity over a 24 hour period in conjunction with Keele University Students’ Union. Last year KUBE Radio raised over £1000 for Comic Relief with our '24 Hour Charity Broadcast’, and this year we intend to smash that total. This marathon broadcast will take place solely from one studio, with no breaks and no sleep, and with all proceeds going to the Donna Louise Trust and the Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children as part of KUSU's RAG week. The event will be sponsored by Domino’s Pizza.

As well as being one of the biggest annual events for KUBE radio, the 24 Hour Charity Broadcast is also one of the most highly anticipated events of the year for the student body of Keele University and pulls in the highest amount of listeners of the whole academic year.
KUBE Radio and KUSU are set to take over the outside of the Students' Union Building with stalls, inflatables, and a fun-fair for all students, giving the event a real carnival feel. Listeners will also be able to tune into the broadcast via the Internet, and follow the events of the day via our website which will be updated constantly throughout the event.

“Our broadcast is all about helping our chosen charities,” said station manager Vinesh Patel, “and the aim of the carnival and broadcast is to encourage people to get involved. Even the smallest donation can really help, and with the work that has gone into this year's event, it is sure to be very successful.”

KUBE Radio has loads of giveaways and prizes for lucky listeners to get their hands on including Alton Towers Tickets, Basshunter tickets, Keele hoodies, and much much more!
The marathon charity broadcast kicks off at 12pm on June 1 on www.kuberadio.com and outside the Students' Union Building at Keele University.
