Our School has a long and distinguished research history at Keele and our current research continues to follow their example with prize-winning outputs and world-leading impact. In particular, we maintain our commitment to interdisciplinary work based on joint research projects with colleagues working in various areas of the humanities and the natural and social sciences.

Criminology

Research in criminology at Keele is dedicated to the advancement in the fields of crime, punishment and criminal justice, grounded in sociological, theoretical, public policy and systematic empirical approaches.

Education

Research into education policy draws on a diversity of intellectual traditions, including critical social policy, poststructuralist theories of governance, feminism, theories of identity and cultural studies.

Politics and International Relations

Included in this area of research is our Politics Portal - one of the world’s most comprehensive guide to politics-related material on the Internet, and designed to help researchers and students.

Philosophy

Particular strengths include metaphilosophy, the philosophy of mind and action, metaphysics of science, natural and social kinds, political theory, philosophy of religion, nihilism and the meaning of life.

Sociology

Research in Sociology at Keele is clustered around family, community and domestic life, consumerism, everyday life and contemporary culture, globalisation, risk and anxiety, and urban spaces and cultures.
