Keele University came joint first in the Times Higher Education (THE) Student Experience Survey for its ‘Good support and welfare’.

Keele’s Student Support and Development Services (SSDS) Department is committed to providing support and services that work for our students and does so by offering a range of ways in which students can access support.

The service offers specialist drop in sessions every weekday for students to talk to support staff about finances and debt, course related matters, immigration issues, careers guidance as well as general well-being support. Students are also taking advantage of the online self-service option, which ensures that students can get what they need, when they need it - that may be late at night, over the weekend or from the other side of the world.

Ian Munton, Head of Student Support and Development Services, explains: “Our approach has always been and will continue to be student-centred; being located in the heart of our beautiful campus helps, as does the strong sense of community that we all enjoy. Beyond this though we simply want Keele students to be happy.

“Our aim then is to offer our support and guidance and to do what we can, whatever the area of concern or the issue being experienced in order that our students can focus on having a great and successful time at Keele.”

This year’s Student Experience Survey was based on responses from more than 15,000 full-time undergraduate students across the UK – the THE's largest survey to date. Students rated their institutions in 21 categories that matter most to them, from the quality of staff and lectures to social life, accommodation and facilities.

Overall Keele University was ranked in the top ten in the national survey for the second year running. Keele was rated highly by students in all aspects covered by the THE poll, and it performed strongly on its degree courses, extracurricular activities and societies, library, and Students' Union.
