The Vice-Chancellor recently hosted two dinners to commemorate Keele's longest-serving staff members, who between them have worked at Keele for over 350 years.

The eight attendees included Mr Les Prestwood, based in Estates and Development, and Mrs Diane Warrilow, based in the Library, who each have 43 years of service.

Professor Ian Bell, School of Humanities, Mr John Clews, School of Chemistry and Physical Sciences, and Ms Brenda Bould, School of Life Sciences, all have 44 years service. Ms Jayne Bromley, School of Life Sciences, and Professor Aneurin Evans (Known as Nye) from the School of Chemistry and Physical Sciences have all clocked up 46 years each.

And finally, Dr John Hegarty from the School of Psychology is celebrating 47 years here at Keele.

Ian Bell, who joined Keele in 1973, said "I feel honoured to have been able to serve Keele for so many years in both senior management roles and, in particular, with my colleagues in American Studies."

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Trevor McMillan, said:

“I thoroughly enjoyed celebrating the loyal service of these eight colleagues, who have each dedicated most of their working lives to making Keele the welcoming and unique university that it is today.

“They all possess a tremendous wealth of knowledge about Keele - as well as some fantastic tales to tell about how the University has developed over the years.”
