Keele University has been named the number one institution in the UK to study Forensic Science, in results published today (Wednesday 26th) in The Complete University Guide 2018.

Overall, Keele has also maintained its top 50 place nationally.

Keele has climbed from second to first place for Forensic Science thanks to excellent graduate prospects, high student satisfaction and research quality.

Forensic Science at Keele achieved a 96% score for student satisfaction in the recent National Student Survey, and with modern facilities and equipment, opportunities for field studies and international study, students are given the opportunity to really get to grips with the subject.

Dr David Thompson, Programme Director for Forensic Science, commented:

"This is fantastic news for Forensic Science at Keele. It is great to be recognised by the Complete University Guide as the number one programme in the UK. This achievement reflects the excellent research-led teaching experience we provide for our students both in terms of dedicated teaching and support staff, and state-of-the-art facilities. This means that our students are well equipped to enter the workplace upon graduation."

The on-campus facilities that Forensic Science students use as part of their studies includes a new analytical laboratory equipped with a range of modern equipment, alongside fully operational crime scene investigation settings, with a dedicated domestic house and car for students to work with as part of practical projects.

Keele has also made the top ten in five of the 31 subjects on offer, placing

  • 1st for Forensic Science
  • 9th for Physiotherapy
  • 7th for Nursing
  • 10th for American Studies
  • 9th for Pharmacy and Pharmacology

Professor Mark Ormerod, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost at Keele University, commented:

"Last year we had four subjects in the top 10, and this year we have five, which really demonstrates how Keele is growing in terms of both size and quality.

“To be placed first in the country for Forensic Science is a tremendous achievement, and is testament to the dedication of our teaching staff who provide a high quality education and experience for our students. We have also topped the National Student Survey for overall student satisfaction for three years running now, and our student employability rate is the best in the UK too.”
