Mason’s Ironstone - Your Story

Posted on 01 May 2014

The Raven Mason Trust have been awarded £7,000 from the Heritage Lottery to explore the contribution of Mason Ironstone to the social and cultural history of Stoke- on-Trent and the English ceramic industry.

Clare Holdsworth a trustee of the collection and Professor of Social Geography at Keele University would like to speak to you if you have a story to tell about either the production of or collection of Mason’s ceramics. The project hopes to bring together communities in Stoke-on-Trent with dispersed community of collectors to explore the contribution of the production of material artefacts to community identity and cohesion.

The stories collected as part of the project will go towards developing an online resource to bring together voices of those who made the ware and collectors; resource pack for schools and children/youth groups on the cultural and social significance of pottery manufacturing and a community celebration of pottery manufacturing in Stoke on Trent.

If you would like to share your story please contact Kerry Jones, Arts Officer on 01782 734908 or email ravenmason@keele.ac.uk . For more information about the Raven Mason Collection visit www.keele.ac.uk/artskeele
