Vice-Chancellor Appointment for Rama

Keele University’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost, Rama Thirunamachandran, has been appointed the next Vice-Chancellor of Canterbury Christ Church University. He will take up his new role at Canterbury on 1 October.
Rama has been Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost of Keele since June 2008 and has overall responsibility for Keele’s academic activities. He is also responsible for its strategic and operational leadership for academic planning, budgeting, and delivery of teaching, research and enterprise, with specific responsibility for leading the University’s Internationalisation Strategy.
On his appointment, Rama said: “Canterbury Christ Church University has transformed over the past 50 years into a university with a distinctive mission and emphasis on public and professional service education with a strong focus on the student experience. I feel privileged and honoured to be offered the opportunity to lead the University into the next stage of its development.”
Keele’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nick Foskett, said: “I am delighted at Rama's appointment as VC at Canterbury Christ Church University. This is clear recognition of his excellent personal qualities and leadership skills. We shall be very sorry to lose Rama, though, for he has made a fantastic contribution to Keele's development and achievements over the five years he has been here.”
