Promoting Learner Engagement conference at Keele

A one-day conference on "PROMOTING LEARNER ENGAGEMENT" in schools will take place at the Centre for Successful Schools at Keele University in Staffordshire on Friday 28 June 2013.

Speakers at the Centre’s next annual conference will include Professor Tom Billington (University of Sheffield), Professor Michael Fielding (Institute of Education), Professor Susan Hallam (Institute of Education), Dr Elizabeth Sidwell (Schools Commissioner), and Sir Alan Steer, (DfE advisor 2005-10).

The speakers will address issues relating to learner engagement in schools and the conference will be of particular interest to education organisers and advisors, academics in further and higher education, school leadership teams and classroom practitioners.

Sir Alan will speak on ‘Learning Behaviour – pupils and teachers’; Professor Billington on ‘Learning with children: Self and relations in successful schools; Professor Hallam on ‘Motivating learners’; Professor Fielding on ‘Democracy is not only something to fight for, it is something to fight with. The power and promise of intergenerational learning’ and Dr Sidwell, ‘Learner engagement – what Works’.

The conference will also include an ‘expert panel’ session.
