Members of Silverdale History Group have teamed up with Keele University volunteering project VE @ Keele to offer an opportunity to find out how Silverdale has developed over the years.

There will be two presentations about the growth and development of the village and a display of photographs dating back to 1870. Visitors can also bring along their own photographs of Silverdale.

Held as part of Student Volunteering Week, the event will take place on Monday, February 21, at Silverdale Library. The photo display will run from 11am to 3pm, with talks at 12pm and 2pm. The first, “The growth of Silverdale”, will be given by Brian Nixon, while Terry O’Neill will talk about Silverdale’s mining industry.

VE @ Keele project leader Becky Wardell said: “This is a great opportunity to find out more about our local community, or if you know Silverdale, you can share your memories about living or growing up in the village.”
