Biography

I graduated with an MPharm degree in Pharmacy from Aston University in 2003. I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy with Medicines Management from De Montfort University and a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education from Keele University. I have undertaken many roles in community pharmacy including Store Manager, , Divisional Care Services Pharmacist, and eLearning designer amongst others. I joined the School of Pharmacy and Bioengineering in 2010 as a Teacher Practitioner on secondment from Boots UK. I joined Keele full time in 2015 as a Teaching Fellow and translated to a Lecturer (Education and Scholarship) in August 2019. In May 2020, I was promoted to Senior Lecturer. I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and regularly mentor and review applications for Senior Fellowship and Fellowship of the HEA via Keele’s CPD route. I am registered pharmacist with a passion for excellence in the delivery of pre-foundation (pre-registration) and foundation pharmacy education and recruitment. I have worked with Health Education England to develop pre-registration recruitment materials and ensure equality and diversity in the interview and testing process. I am currently the local lead for Shropshire and Staffordshire area of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain and Chair of the UK Clinical Pharmacy Association’s Education and Development committee. I co-authored A Practical Guide to Medicines Management, with fellow Keele academic Dr. Rebecca Venables, published in 2018. Most recently in 2020, I became one of only three KIITE Fellows for curriculum development. As a KIITE fellow I am currently working on curriculum design projects (particularly those related to wellbeing) and tutoring on the Master in Higher Education Practice and Academic Professional Apprenticeship programmes.
