I am a Senior Teaching Fellow and the Director of Prescribing Education for the Centre for Professional Development and Lifelong Learning that sits within the School of Pharmacy.

I joined the School of Pharmacy – formerly known as Dept. of Medicines Management in 2000 from a background in community pharmacy and latterly within primary care where I was Head of Medicines Management for a Primary Care Trust.  Initially I supported the Medicines Evaluation Unit at Keele University and was involved in writing reviews and guidance for the Midlands Therapeutic Review and Advisory Committee (MTRAC), in addition to providing educational support to the postgraduate community programme.

For the past 14 years I have developed my postgraduate teaching role in therapeutics, leading the Prescribing Studies programme. I have led the Pharmacist Independent Prescribing course for over 12 years and am continually adapting this to meet the needs of our National Health Service. I have supported professional and regulatory bodies in the development of pharmacist prescribers in the UK as well as New Zealand.

I was the postgraduate Academic Conduct Officer for over 5 years and I sit on the University Ethics Review Committee. I am also the School’s representative on the Staffordshire and Shropshire Local Professional Network and sit on the Professional Leadership and Workforce Development subgroup.  In 2014 I was accepted into the Faculty of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) and currently chair the local branch of the RPS. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
