I began working for Keele University in September 2004 when I joined the Department of Medicines Management as an IT/AV Modern Apprentice whilst also successfully studying for a HNC in Computing and a Foundation Degree award. After two years as an apprentice, I was appointed as a permanent member of staff to the role of an IT/AV Technician within the School of Pharmacy. After ten years as a Technician, I was appointed as a Learning Technology Officer for the School of Pharmacy.
Along with technology, my responsibilities within the School has been extremely varied over the years. The primary objective is to provide support for the School's postgraduate programme (also known as the Centre for Professional Development and Lifelong Learning) while also looking to improve on Learning Technology within the School and increased responsibility within the Pharmacy IT Service Team. Within the team, we have successfully improved a number of systems for the School including the development of several websites, interactive workbooks (iPDFs) for use on both Windows and iOS devices, attendance monitoring systems, imaging solutions, asset management, virtual learning environments, portfolio management, and much more to keep me busy!
I thoroughly enjoy my time at Keele University and hope it will continue long into the future. My wish for the future would be to continue my professional development by making a return to studying at an advanced level and increasing my knowledge of IT systems in keeping with the ever-changing world of technology as it is today.
