Biography

Sara gained her BSc Mathematics from the University of Sheffield in 2004, before undertaking an MSc in Biometry at the University of Reading. Following this, she joined the Arthritis Research UK Primary Care Centre at Keele in 2005 as a Research Assistant in Biostatistics. In 2006,  Sara began her PhD, entitled “The measurement of locomotor disability in epidemiological studies”, which she completed in 2010. Since then she has worked mainly in the Centre’s Inflammatory Arthritis Research Group leading their work using routinely collected data. Sara is also the lead the PMR Cohort study.

Research and scholarship

Sara is interested in epidemiological methodology, particularly in the fields of musculoskeletal pain and rheumatology. She has a particular interest in ordinal regression models, Rasch analysis and the use of routinely collected data in research. Sara is also a member of the Society for Academic Primary Care and a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society and was previously an associate editor at the Journal of Family Practice.
