Who are Parent Ambassadors?

Our Parent Ambassadors have recent experience of supporting a child or children through higher education, despite having had little or no experience of Higher Education (HE) beforehand. They encourage parents to share their ideas, opinions and views about their child/children studying post-16 and help dispel myths and fears by discussing the impact HE has had on them and their children and the ‘real’ benefits of higher education, as they have experienced them.

What do Parent Ambassadors Do?

Parent Ambassadors have given talks in schools, colleges, and at Higher Education Institutions. They have attended school/college parents’ evenings, options evenings and HE information evenings, where they have been on hand to answer any questions a parent may have. Not only do they have their own experience to draw upon, they also disseminate literature and resources, empowering parents to help their children.

Why become a Parent Ambassador?

Parents have really appreciated the opportunity to hear the Ambassadors’ stories and especially how they have overcome issues such as finance, accommodation and adjusting to their children leaving home to study.

Even though I was sure about my daughter studying further, I now feel much more confident that this will be the right thing for her from listening to the other parents.
