Biography

Kim is the Director of Education for the School of Medicine where she has strategic oversight, leadership, and management of the School’s wide range of education programmes.  She has over 28 years in education, spending the last 18 years at Keele University.

She is the Deputy Chair of the University Academic Appeals Committee (VC nominee) and is a Member of the University Academic Misconduct Panel. Kim has been involved in a number of educational developments within the University, is a member of the Faculty Education Committee and is a Chair of the University Standing Validation panel.

Kim’s background is in nursing, midwifery and education.  She previously worked in the School of Nursing and Midwifery where she taught on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at pre and post-registration levels. She is very experienced in the curriculum development of professional programmes and working with professional regulators and stakeholders; she has also had experience as an External Examiner. Within the School of Nursing and Midwifery, she held the roles of Programme Lead, School Assessment and Examinations Lead, Deputy for Learning and Teaching and Director of Education.

Kim's research interests are in Healthcare Education, with a specific interest in practice readiness and she has presented her work at a number of international conferences.

Research and scholarship

Kim’s research interests are in authentic assessment and practice readiness.

Teaching

Kim is a very experienced teacher with a particular focus on professional education.
