This year Keele University’s School of Nursing and Midwifery celebrates its 25th anniversary, alongside recent nominations for three prestigious Student Nursing Times Awards 2020 and Top 10 in the UK for Nursing and Midwifery, Guardian University League Table 2020.
The School is enhanced by it's extensive facilities, high quality and diverse range of placements and friendly community of dedicated personal tutors, course leaders, practice supervisors, assessors in clinical practice and professional staff. This ensures that students feel supported throughout their learning experiences and in their healthcare settings, to become fully confident and professional Nurses or Midwives.
I am thrilled to celebrate the school’s 25th anniversary this year, and recognise all the excellent work every team does within the school. We are at the forefront of ensuring that our nursing and midwifery students are ready to practice by providing them with learning enhanced clinical and leadership skills. Having 25 years of experience of high-quality teaching and research underpins the excellent reputation of the school, it's students and alumni.
Over 120 students at the School of Nursing and Midwifery have stepped up to help the NHS through the pandemic by undertaking extended placements in line with Health Education England guidance. We are thankful and proud of all our students who have been deployed into practice to help on the frontline.
We would also like to extend our thanks to our 1995 Keele alumni graduates, staff and students who have come forward to help with our celebrations.
"Nurses are always needed. Shifts are now more flexible and you can travel and work almost anywhere in the world. I worked for 2 years in Riyadh, Saudi; 2 years in Hong Kong and 1 year backpacking and working around Australia."
"The role of the Learning Disability nurse is vital in the local communities, working alongside individuals and families to promote person-centred care. You can enjoy a diverse and rewarding career that really makes a difference to peoples lives."
