HEAD OF SCHOOL'S WELCOME

A message from the School of Nursing and Midwifery's Head of School

Welcome to the School of Nursing and Midwifery!

julie-green-welcome Over the last 12 months, the pandemic has posed an incredible challenge to our healthcare providers, both within hospitals and across our local communities. Many of our pre-registration nursing and midwifery students have continued to undertake their placements within clinical practice throughout this time, alongside their academic studies, and we are immensely proud of them. For many of our post-registration students, their studies have been paused whilst they have concentrated their support on the fight against Covid-19.

You may be visiting this website as someone who has always planned to be a nurse or midwife, you may want to advance your career, or you may be considering a career change; maybe you have been inspired by the nurses and midwives who have stepped up during the pandemic. Whatever your reasons, we believe that these are exciting times for our School of Nursing and Midwifery, and we hope that we have captured the details of what we have to offer on our webpages and through our social media accounts. Our School has inspirational staff, outstanding clinical partners, accessible student support, contemporary facilities and we offer an exciting range of programmes of study both at pre-registration and post-registration.

Being a nurse or a midwife is fundamentally about supporting people and we work hard to ensure that people - students, staff, clinical partners, service users, patients and carers - are at the centre of our educational provision and research activities. We pride ourselves on supporting our students in their studies; we have a robust personal tutor system, an enthusiastic team of academics and clinical partners who support our students and a comprehensive range of services that provide any additional support required to achieve success. Our programmes are evidence-based, and many of our staff in the School also work collaboratively to undertake research which underpins our education. We consistently receive excellent feedback from both students and stakeholders.

You will be able to see on our website the whole range of modules and programmes that are on offer and the areas of research that we engage with. If you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to give us a call or drop us an email.

We look forward to you joining us, either to commence or to progress your career in nursing or midwifery.
