Sohrab Uduman: OPUS 2016 Winner
53-year-old composer Sohrab Uduman has been selected as the winner of OPUS2016, Britten Sinfonia's open submission scheme for unrepresented composers. Sohab will now receive a commission to write a new work for the orchestra's award-winning At Lunch series to be premiered in December 2016. Over 280 composers applied to OPUS2016 from up and down the country. Ten composers were then shortlisted by a panel including composers Julian Philips and previous OPUS winner Edward Nesbit. The shortlisted composers were then invited to write a Piano Trio which was explored in two workshops earlier this year. Following the workshops the panel then selected Sohrab as the winner.
