The musical work of postgraduate student Robert Ratcliffe has received recognition at the 6th Métamorphoses Composition Competition, which is a biennial international composition competition organised by Musiques et Recherches in Belgium. Nearly 130 works were submitted to the 2010 edition, with Robert’s piece, ‘Labyrinth’ selected by the jury as a compulsory piece for the international spatialisation competition Espace du Son, which will take place during the festival L’espace du Son in Brussels during October. Participants of the spatialisation competition will be required to produce a graphic transcription of ‘Labyrinth’ and then perform the piece during the final using a 76-speaker diffusion system, with both components taken into consideration by the jury.
