Dr Fiorella Montero-Diaz, Lecturer in Ethnomusicology in the Music and Music Technology Department, presented a paper at the Latin American Studies Association's Annual International conference in New York.
She convened and chaired an interdisciplinary panel entitled 'Activism, Citizenship, and Politics among the Latin American Middle and Upper Classes'.

Dr Montero-Diaz gave a presentation exploring white upper class youth embodiment of marginality as a means to validate a redefined upper class citizenship through the fusion music scene in post-war Lima.

Dr Montero-Diaz will be collaborating with fellow music scholars, sociologists, political scientists and economists in order to produce an edited book: Citizenship in the Latin American Upper and Middle Classes: Ethnographic Perspectives on Culture, Politics, and Consumption.
