Biography
I graduated from Nottingham University in 2003 with a Physiotherapy BSc(Hons) degree and went on to complete a Physiotherapy MSc in 2012. I was awarded a PhD from Keele in 2016 for work investigating attitudes, beliefs and physical activity in older adults with knee pain. As a Post Doc, I worked as a clinical academic with a specialist interest in osteoarthritis treatments and people with osteoarthritis and multiple long term conditions. This included Clinical Research Network West Midlands Research Scholarships, osteoarthritis implementation and clinical work setting up and evaluating new osteoarthritis services in Primary Care (for the NHS and Haywood Foundation).
In 2022, I began a Research into Practice Adviser role for the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and continue osteoarthritis research in an honorary capacity at Keele.
Research and scholarship
My primary research interest is in the management of lower-limb osteoarthritis using non pharmacological interventions such as physical activity and weight loss. I have experience in systematic reviews and in analysing trial, survey and interview data as well as service set-up and evaluation.
Teaching
I contribute to resources and teaching about the management of osteoarthritis.
Further information
I am a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, the Health and Care Professions Council, the Osteoarthritis Research International Society and the British Health Professionals in Rheumatology Society.
Research awards:
• Robert Williams CSP travel award 2015
• Osteoarthritis Research International (OARSI) young investigator award 2014
• Postgraduate student symposium prize, Keele University 2013, 2014
• Postgraduate physiotherapy dissertation prize, Nottingham University 2012
