PGR students invited Life Sciences Staff to celebrate the Birthday of Prophet Muhammed in the School of Life Sciences Common Room. Staff passed their warmest greetings and best wishes for the occasion.

Professor Dave Furness has two Erasmus funded interns: Anna Konig from Germany using electron microscopy to study mouse mutants with hearing deficits, and Gozde Isik from Turkey studying TMC1, a protein involved in the detection of sound by inner ear hair cells.

Congratulations to the Faculty of Natural Sciences PhD student Sundus Al-Khazraji for successfully completing her PhD. Her thesis is entitled “Investigation into the role of protein phosphatase 4 catalytic subunit on the survival of leukaemic cell lines”. Sundus returned to the Republic of Iraq with an academic position at the University of Baghdad.

Congratulations to Faculty of Natural Sciences PhD student Zainab Zainab Almnaseer for successfully defending her thesis entitled " Investigation into the role of the long non-coding RNAs NEAT1 and MIAT in breast cancer". Zainab is pictured here with her Extrenal Examiner Dr Aditi Kanhere of Birmingham University, her supervisor Dr Mirna Mourtada-Maarabouni and her advisor Prof Gwyn Williams of Keele and Zainab completed her corrections and returned to the Republic of Iraq with an academic position at the University of Basra.
