"This book is like visiting a botanical garden with a guide who has travelled the world; and Dr Thomas has travelled the world to find these gems of information. After reading this book the reader will no longer look at a tree with indifference."
The textbook Trees: their natural history, has been named an outstanding academic title by the American Association of College and Research Libraries.  The book, written by Peter Thomas, Reader in Plant Ecology, is one of just three books in the life sciences to be given this award for 2015.

The citation includes a quote from Ross Wein, Professor Emeritus, University of Alberta, Canada, "This book is like visiting a botanical garden with a guide who has travelled the world; and Dr Thomas has travelled the world to find these gems of information. After reading this book the reader will no longer look at a tree with indifference."
