Online Referencing and Study Skills Resources Trial

The Library is running a limited trial of a few online resources from Macmillan to help develop student referencing and study skills.

Cite Them Right is an online toolkit helping you to format your references. It covers the most popular styles for many formats (books; ebooks; journals; newspapers; government reports; podcasts; etc.):

  • Author-date (Harvard, APA)
  • Footnotes (Chicago, OSCOLA)
  • Numeric (Vancouver, IEEE)

If you don't find the style your school is using, you can adapt the techniques for the style that closely matches yours.

You can access the resource from: then search for Keele University in the institution log-in list.

Skills for Study is based on Stella Cottrell's The Study Skills Handbook and contains workshops and self-directed skills sessions across 12 core modules, inc. critical thinking; time management; and dissertation support.

You can access this from: and again search for Keele University.

For Social Work students, there's also the Social Work Toolkit, an online resource to help support and develop the skills required as part of a course in Social Work, inc. professionalism in practice; ethics, values and diversity; and assessment and intervention.

You can access this from: searching for Keele University.
