Human Rights, Globalisation and Justice MA and Tata Institute for Social Sciences (TISS) Exchange
Opportunity to Study Human Rights in India
Part of the distinctive advantage of studying Human Rights, Gender, Sexuality and Law or Law and Society at Masters level at Keele lies in the exciting opportunity to study for one of the four modules at the Tata Institute for Social Sciences (TISS) in Mumbai.
The Tata Institute is widely known for its pioneering research and teaching in applied social sciences, with a particular orientation towards human rights, social welfare and development issues in the Indian Subcontinent. The research work carried out academics at TISS has over the years been increasingly used in capacity building, field action, academia and policy advocacy on social, cultural, economic and environmental issues.
A key dimension of work undertaken at TISS is ‘hands-on’. Students therefore have the opportunity to take part in organised visits to NGOs to investigate issues of local human rights concern in addition to attending a programme of lectures and seminars.
As a key part of this reciprocal exchange scheme, Keele also hosts scholars from TISS, who present their research and add to the international character and cultural diversity of the student experience on this MA.
The opportunity to study for one module at TISS has enabled our past students to benefit from an invaluable cultural, educational and social experience. All students registered for the MA in Human Rights, Globalisation and Justice, LLM in Gender Sexuality and Law and LLM in Law and Society will be eligible next year, although places are limited.
For further information please contact the exchange coordinator, Dr Jane Krishnadas (firstname.lastname@example.org). *Bursaries are available to provide financial assistance for students who take part in the the TISS programme this year. Please contact us for more information*
