Lara is a former student of Keele University, graduating with an LLB with Joint BA Hons (Politics). She completed her PhD on the statutory regulation of mortgage enforcement in December 2004 at the University of Leicester.

Lara rejoined the Law School in October 2006 from the University of Leicester where she held a Lectureship in Law.

Lara’s interests lie in Property Law, Equity and the Law of Trusts, and include the regulation of mortgage enforcement, the informal acquisition of interests in property and aspects of charity law regulation and practice. She is co-author (with M Haley) of a substantial Sweet and Maxwell text “Equity and Trusts” (4th ed., 2014).

Lara holds a PG Certificate in Academic Practice (University of Leicester) and has developed teaching materials in her subject area for use at Keele and externally. She is currently a commissioned author for CILEx, developing teaching materials on Equity and Trusts (Level 6) and Mortgage Repossessions (Level 3).

Undergraduate

Lara teaches on the following undergraduate modules:

Land Law 1 & 2;

Equity 1 & 2 (Module Leader: Equity 2);

Dissertations (Module Coordinator).

Postgraduate

Lara is willing to supervise students in the areas of Land Law, Equity and Trusts. She is currently Associate Supervisor to two PhD students with research projects covering the law of servitudes and a comparative study of ownership acquisition (Saudi Arabia and UK law).

 

 

Lara is a member of the Society of Legal Scholars and has been a committee member of the National Client Interviewing Competition for England and Wales since 2004. She is currently involved in developing the Law School Mentoring Scheme at Keele following a very successful pilot in 2012.
