Last ESRC-funded seminar on liability v innovation hosted at Keele
On the 14th September, Professors Tsachi Keren-Paz (Law) and Alicia El Haj (ISTM) and Dr Michael Fay osted the 6th and final seminar in the ESRC funded series ‘Liability versus innovation: unpacking key connections. The seminar, ‘Research, Innovative treatments and Barriers for innovation including liability’kicked off with a paper session panel, followed by two round tables on the Paolo Macchiarini and Charlie Gard case studies. Participants included Professor Jonathan Montgomery, the Chair of the Health Research Authority, Professor Dominic Wilkinson (Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics), Professor Tina Cockburn, QUT, Brisbane, Australia, Dr Nayha Sethi (Edinburgh Law School) and Ms Abigail Pearson (Keele University, Law Ph.D candidate on disability rights).
